Co-producers Kent Church and Kent Muir have announced that former Neighbours star Ryan Moloney, who played Jarrod ‘Toadfish’ Rebecchi on the soap, has committed to their upcoming debut feature project, Fragile.
He joins the star of the worldwide hit horror movie franchise Wolf Creek, John Jarratt.
The film, directed by Hollywood veteran Ross Clarkson, will begin shooting on location in April.
The co-producers are Greater Shepparton locals and are excited to bring their debut project to life in the heart of regional Victoria.
“The role of Jim was crafted specifically for John Jarratt after a chance meeting in Adelaide in 2017,” writer and story creator Mr Church said.
“Whenever I wrote for that character, I always had John in mind.”
Mr Clarkson, whose extensive career boasts over 80 international film credits, will direct the project.
“We were stoked when Ross Clarkson jumped on to the project before Christmas, and now with John and Ryan on board, we’re ready to go,” Mr Muir said.
“Our initial meeting with Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Shane Sali and chief executive officer Fiona Le Gassick was extremely positive, and we’re really grateful to know they’ve got our backs.
“We’ll be holding auditions in Shepparton in the coming weeks because we know first-hand that there are a lot of talented individuals in the region.”
Fragile will be produced by the pair’s fledgling production company, Lone Content, and distributors are being approached to ensure the film gets a nationwide theatrical release.
