The festival, in Shepparton’s Queen’s Gardens on Sunday, March 20, is one of the biggest celebrations of Albanian culture in Australia.
This year, Shepparton Albanian Moslem Society president Reg Qemal said they wanted a more diverse crowd to experience the traditions.
“The ongoing success of local cultural events such as Converge and the St Georges Road Food Festival demonstrate that there is a keen interest in people travelling to Shepparton to experience a multicultural event,” he said.
“As a result, our committee would very much like to encourage a more diverse crowd to come along and help us celebrate our culture by sharing our entertainment, food and traditions.”
A section selling fruit and vegetables grown in the Goulburn Valley will return this year.
Organisers say the market is a big drawcard to visitors from Melbourne.
The Albanian Harvest Festival started 20 years ago, as a way for the large Goulburn Valley community to keep in touch, celebrate and share their culture.
The festival was recently showcased in award-winning documentary Australia My Home: An Albanian Migration.
The festival is supported by Greater Shepparton City Council, Digital Marketing Agency at SCA and the Shepparton Albanian Women’s Committee.
Entry is by a gold coin donation.
The Albanian Harvest Festival runs from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, March 20, at the Queen’s Gardens, Shepparton.
