The event raised an impressive $1990 for The Bridge Youth Service.
“We chose The Bridge because we thought it would be the most relatable option for the attendees, it was a Year 12 ball,” Notre Dame Year 12 captain Harry Brown said.
“The students are more likely to care about the youth in their community.”
“And also that it was local; we wanted it to be local, so that it’s more meaningful to us,” Notre Dame Year 12 captain Bella Woods said.
The Bridge Youth Service chief executive Melinda Lawley thanked the students for their contribution and praised their awareness of the pressing challenges facing young people.
“It’s inspiring to see young hearts and minds recognising the importance of giving back,” Ms Lawley said.
“Thanks to the generous support from Notre Dame College, this donation will empower our youth by providing safe housing, educational support and essential resources for young parents.
“Additionally, it will enable early intervention programs that address mental health and substance misuse, helping young people navigate their challenges and thrive.”
The Year 12 ball was a hit with students embracing the themed dress code, dressing up as something starting with the letter of their first name, while enjoying a night packed with karaoke, a DJ and even AFL footy finals on screen.
