Bulldogs' Cordy move to St Kilda official

The key defender played in the Bulldogs' drought-breaking 2016 premiership, with the grand final being just his 11th AFL game.

"He's played his best football as a genuine key defender and, importantly, he will add some height to our group while also giving the coaching staff some flexibility with how we use our talls next year," Saints list manager James Gallagher said.

"He's a competitive guy and has a team-first attitude, demonstrated through his willingness to play various roles across the ground.

"While he's achieved a lot in his young career, we feel confident he can go to another level here at the Saints."

The Bulldogs will not receive any compensation for losing Cordy after bringing in veteran defender Liam Jones after he opted to retire ahead of the 2022 season rather than comply with the AFL's vaccination policy. 

Cordy was the first deal finalised on Wednesday, with Collingwood ruckman Brodie Grundy's high-profile move to Melbourne a chance to be confirmed later in the day after the Demons swapped picks with Port Adelaide on Tuesday.
