My name is Stuart Ferguson, and I am running to be a Mitchell Shire councillor in the North Ward.
I have lived in Seymour for the majority of my life, been involved in the community as a local nurse, and am raising a young family of three here. As we will continue living in this community, I want to contribute positively to its development.
The North Ward is a growth area that needs to prioritise youth and urban planning to ensure its future.
With the expanding population, we face increased traffic and denser living spaces.
I aim to ensure a development strategy that allows for growth while ensuring proper planning to manage the anticipated traffic flow within our towns.
Adequateb parking and traffic flow will help ensure peoples safety.
The new estates are being built and we need to plan the roads and traffic flows now before it’s too late.
My passion is the development of youth in our community.
With one of the lowest completion rates in schooling in the state, this means we must make change.
We need to further invest and develop our youth programs so that our community does not lag further behind.
This can be achieved through ensuring well-resourced sporting and adventure clubs, as well as after-hours study spaces, so that our youth have positive environments to thrive in.
We need our youth to be and feel supported to make sure our community can thrive with a highly skilled workforce.
A vote for me will put these priorities at the top.
