At the weekend's opening round of matches, local outfit Shepparton United suffered a 40-run loss to Echuca at Princess Park.
United was bundled out for 80 runs in reply to Echuca's total of 120.
Dinesha Patabandge was phenomenal with the ball in hand, claiming impressive figures of 4-8 and was on a hat-trick at one stage.
The opening bowler had some support from Rachael Gardiner in the match, with Gardiner scoring an impressive 27 runs.
Shepparton United vice-president Tony Giblin was proud of the side's performance in the opening round clash.
“It was a good match, unfortunately our girls were unable to get the win, but it was a ripping day for everyone,” he said.
“We had four players make their debuts and it was great to see them out there playing.
“And it was great to see Dinesha and Rachael both play well.”
Giblin also put a call out to anyone interested in joining United's women's side.
“If anyone else is looking for a hit, feel free to contact me or come along to training,” he said.
“We train at Princess Park on Wednesday night's at 5.30 pm.
“The more girls at our club or any club, is great for the game.”
● In the other A-grade match, Kyabram Fire Brigade suffered a three-wicket loss to Leitchville-Gunbower away from home.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Lauren Hall top-scored with a brilliant 29 not out off 30 deliveries at the top-of-the-order.
Despite help from teammate Millie Hill (22 not out), the Flames were only able to register 2-85 from 20 overs.
Leitchville-Gunbower finished its innings seven wickets down for 90 runs, with Hall showcasing her talent extends to bowling as well, finishing with figures of 3-14.
Shepparton United and Kyabram Fire Brigade will get a chance to claim a win this weekend when they meet at Princess Park on Sunday.
