‘Our Shout’ will see the Resilience in Recovery team make fortnightly visits to the communities of Bunbartha, Undera and Murchison.
It is an opportunity to share a meal, have a laugh, connect with other community members and understand the community’s current challenges following the flood event.
With the first sessions held earlier this month, residents will be able to see the Resilience in Recovery team each fortnight from now until the end of November.
The next sessions will be held on:
Tuesday, August 27, 11am to 1pm at Undera General Store
Wednesday, August 28, 8am to 10am outside the Murchison Historical Society
Council director of community Louise Mitchell encouraged residents across the three towns to head along to one of the sessions.
According to Ms Mitchell, the sessions’ flexible structure is to allow residents to take the lead and shape them to be what the locals want and need.
“We want to spend time with the community in a way that suits them and that supports local organisations,” she said.
“We want to create something that welcomes people in, encourages positive relationships and promotes more open conversations, so people know that their voice is heard in shaping recovery work.”
The team will also attend the Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre every Thursday between 11am and 7pm to speak to people from the area.
Flood-affected residents can have one-on-one discussions with the Resilience in Recovery team to seek advice and find services to assist them with any effects from the flooding they might still be dealing with.
“It was important for the team to be available after hours to cater for anyone who is working and juggling their recovery journey,” Ms Mitchell said.
“Any feedback received from residents can be passed on to the relevant Council teams and community partners.
“The flood recovery team can also share opportunities for locals to take part in events, training opportunities, and connect socially with other people in the local community.”
