It will be a one-day standalone event at the Echuca Showgrounds on Sunday, March 20.
Marg Berryman, one of the organisers behind the event, said she was concerned a lot of people were unaware the event was even on, because last year’s show was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There was no show for us last year in November, so a lot of people have forgotten about it,” she said.
Many have had to scramble to get organised, after learning the district show was still going ahead.
Ms Berryman urged people to get involved and show their community spirit.
“It’s wonderful because you do have the opportunity to go on to the next level,” she said.
“If you win at this competition, you can then go on to the next stage, which is the regional final, and then if you happen to win there, you can then go on to the Royal Melbourne Show.”
Ms Berryman’s daughter, Rose Berryman, is a prime example of someone who has done well at the show.
She has both placed and won awards for her brilliant carrot and fruitcake baking skills.
“It’s a great place for budding cooks and budding photographers to get started,” Ms Berryman said.
Competitive categories in the show will include cooking (seniors and juniors), crafts, knitting, sewing, crochet, men’s craft, photography (seniors and juniors), cross-stitch, embroidery and wool fleece.
There are no pre-requisites for signing up to participate in the show and the judges will be travelling from Bendigo to decide the winners.
All entered items will need to be delivered to the show between 9am and 10am.
Thereafter, everything will be closed for judging and then visitors are welcome to come and have a look at all the items being presented at the show from 2pm.
Entry is free for all visitors.
“We’re more than happy for anyone to stop by and have a look at all our entries,” Ms Berryman said.
The regional final show will be held on April 3, in Swan Hill.
