It was good to see so many members interested in assisting and proud to present our club in it's best condition to our visitors during the tournament.
The tournament was run in a different format this time around, with six games being played across the weekend. Three played Saturday and Sunday in perfect weather.
On Friday night before the tournament, a one-bowl shoot out was played with members and entrants in the tournament enjoying a fun night attempting to win the RACV accommodation voucher.
This was won in the end by Ray Parks from Cobram.
Thanks to members who assisted across the weekend, in the kitchen preparing meals for the bowlers, and to our umpires and anybody else who helped, a big thank you.
The first three winners of the tournament were: Alex Simms, C Owen and J. Occhicini from Clayton, 12 points, 1; Brett Wright, Ray Emerson and Rob George (Kyabram),10 points, 2; Michael Szabo, Wayne Lowrie and Larry Seely, 10 points, 3.
The only other bowls played this week was Keith's Friday, with bowlers enjoying very pleasant weather to play their games.
Twenty-four bowlers played and the winners were Gerald Rothe and Fran Thatcher with a great score of +28, ahead of Tony Lee (Visitor) and Bob Thatcher with 14.
Best first game winners with three were Karen Bruce and Faye Neal. Best second game winners were Geoff Brentnall and Carol Wigg with 14. The jackpot did not go off and was helped to swell its amount via an auction for a bunch of proteas supplied by Geoff Brentnall, which yielded $20, so the jackpot is now worth $186 this week.
