Heidi Bryce, Mitch Goddard, Gina Sampson and Alistair Nicholls took on the challenge as part of the Ian Sneddon MND Golf Fundraiser’s event.
The event has run since 2022 as a way of raising funds while remembering and honouring Ian Sneddon who lost his own battle with the disease.
Mr Sneddon served as mayor of the town for a time, was involved in a number of clubs and organisations and was passionate about golf, his family, tractors and his community.
Unfortunately Ian developed MND and passed ten months after being diagnosed.
The Ian Sneddon MND Golf Fundraiser was a big success with plenty of fun being had, and more than $16,000 being raised for the cause.
The tally adds to the $45,000 raised earlier this year through the Two Rivers Run Tractor Trek.
Mr Sneddon was a member of the group which, in its early days, raised money for prostate cancer research and Beyond Blue Australia.
After Mr Sneddon’s diagnosis, the focus turned to MND.
The golf day result was raised through the sale of raffle tickets and tickets which gave the winner the opportunity to dunk one of the Big Freeze participants.
Each challenger also sought pledges from the community, and reached their combined target of $10,000.
The funds raised and the support shown for the cause displayed what community is all about, in particular the power of community and what it can do when working toward a collective goal.
• Results from the golf day are included in today’s sport, in the Off The Tee column.
