Goulburn-Murray Water has removed the blue-green algae warnings in the Broken River and Broken Creek following a significant decline in algae levels.
On February 2, blue-green algae warnings were issued in the Broken River basin for Lake Nillahcootie and the Broken River downstream of Lake Nillahcootie to Caseys Weir.
On February 13, the warning was extended to include the Broken River to Shepparton, as well as the Broken Creek from Caseys Weir to Katamatite.
These warnings have now been removed, except for Lake Nillahcootie, where the warning is still in place.
G-MW water quality coordinator Bianca Atley said G-MW would keep testing for further changes to blue-green algae levels.
“We will continue undertaking water quality monitoring and if blue-green algae reach levels deemed unsafe by national health guidelines, a warning will be issued,” she said.
