This week, we spoke to St Anne’s College 2024 college captains Jesse Minicozzi and Chiara Villani.
Chiara Villani
Chiara applied to be a college captain to help the school community in her final year.
“I just wanted to help the school grow, and it’s a good opportunity to better the school and make a difference,” she said.
Now that she holds her role with pride, her goal is to build connections within the school.
“I’m hoping to grow the connections between the year levels and make a difference and help others to succeed — and be a friendly face in the school for other people,” Chiara said.
In addition to studying at school, Chiara is undertaking a university subject as part of the Deakin University accelerated program.
“This unit is management and then I’ll do marketing later,” she said.
Next year, she plans to continue at Deakin, moving to its Geelong campus to study for her Bachelor of Commerce.
When she’s not doing schoolwork, Chiara enjoys spending time with her friends and family or working at a local supermarket.
Jesse Minicozzi
Jesse applied for captaincy to increase his involvement in the school.
“I just want to be more involved with leadership because our school’s very ‘student voice’ based,” he said.
“Although the option is there for us to have a student voice, we need more of a bridge to actually get the students to feel comfortable to talk to leadership.”
He is excited to increase the social events within the community.
“Obviously, there are issues that we need to deal with like rubbish and things like that, but aside from that, the more fun stuff would be social events and trying to include everyone,” he said.
Jesse is flexible in terms of his plans post-graduation.
“I’m leaving next year open for now, but I definitely want to work and be able to travel to get a feel of the world,” he said.
Outside school, he enjoys culinary hobbies and socialising.
“I love cooking and baking,” Jesse said.
“When I make Mexican especially, I take pride in my cooking.
“Other than cooking, my main hobby is just socialising and spending time with people.
“It’s one of my favourite things about life — being able to interact with other human beings and exchange values, personalities, all that stuff.”
