The traditional school-wide theme of Discover, Belong and Achieve has provided a well-understood framework that underpins the educational experience for students from Prep to Year 12.
During 2023, students have been exposed to a myriad of opportunities that have encouraged them to discover new things about themselves in a safe and supportive environment.
In 2023, the college conducted its first Founders’ Day celebration.
The day involved many important guests returning to the college to participate in a number of events, including a tour of the campus and attendance at the whole school assembly.
It was a very special day for current students and staff to interact with important community members who had been so influential in the college’s development.
In the afternoon, students enjoyed a Colour Run, which involved students from Prep to Year 12 participating in a jog around an obstacle course while being covered in colourful powder.

In 2023, Junior School staff have continued to develop their knowledge and understanding of the science of learning.
The implementation of this pedagogical framework in the Junior School has seen significant growth in numeracy and literacy outcomes for many students.
Middle School continues to develop its contemporary sequential curriculum which seeks to meet the needs and interests of our adolescent young people.
Our focus in the Senior School has been the development of individual pathways which has seen an increase in options for students entering the VCE years.
In the co-curricular space, 2023 saw the return of interstate and international travel for our students and staff.
Our German language students travelled to Germany to develop their language skills and experience the rich and diverse culture that Germany has to offer.
Almost 30 students travelled to Samoa as we reconnected with our sister school, All Saints Anglican School in Apia, Samoa.
In 2024, we welcome Leigh Symons to the college as the head of Junior School, and Paul Carson has been appointed the head of Senior School.
I wish students, staff, families, and the wider community a wonderful festive period and look forward to what 2024, and indeed, the next 20 years, will bring for Cathedral College Wangaratta.
