The first two shows were held on October 11 and 12, but with Shepparton and Mooroopna flooded days later, students didn’t get back on stage until November 3 and 4.
It was St Anne’s first-ever production, held at the school’s theatre in Kialla.
Performing arts teacher Sean O’Brien directed the performance, which was a first for himself and the 30 students that took part.
“There was a lot of work in getting the production ready, as it started in term one with auditions, but then we went on to lunchtime rehearsals during term two and term three and the students were just so dedicated during this time,” Mr O’Brien said.
He said before the first production there was immense excitement around the school.
“The buzz was brilliant, they (students) were so nervous and everyone just had a nervous giggle before the event started,” he said.
Mr O’Brien said the cast and crew were “devastated” at the thought of cancelling shows when floodwaters rose, but they were able to lock in more dates.
He said once the team was able to confirm the final shows would go ahead, fellow students were more excited than ever to watch the production.
“It was fantastic for the parents and extended family to watch and has provided the students with learning about a production, and taking them out of their comfort zone,” Mr O’Brien said.
“We are hoping to do another future production in the following year, hopefully bigger and better.”
