With many exhibitors, workshops and talks, the event looks to establish the region as a health and wellness hub, negating the need for locals to make the trip to Melbourne for similar services.
“We have five areas where people can engage,” Greater Shepparton City Council team leader marketing Liz Connick said.
“There are the exhibitor sites — 35-plus local businesses and professionals that are ready to connect with our community and our audience.”
“We have more than 25 demonstrations, talks and workshops. Attendees can attend the food myth-busting session, discover what breathwork is, or attend the webinar, ‘Don’t Sweat It — Menopause Talk’ by Dr Ginni Mansberg and Shelly Horton.”
Mrs Connick also highlighted the importance of planning the day.
She asked that attendees arrive at Riverlinks Eastbank early or from noon, as there would be a large crowd attending the ‘Ladies Who Lunch’ event, which starts at 11:30 am.
“A café, refreshments and a gin bar will open, and then they can enjoy the event,” Mrs Connick said.
“A ticket gets attendees access to all of the exhibitors, all of the workshops and talks. There is a free goodie bag, but there are limited numbers of goodie bags.
“The exhibitors will also have exclusive offers for attendees, and they will have items available to purchase.”
The Peter Copulos Cancer and Wellness Centre will be an exhibitor on the day.
“We’ll have some information on the Peter Copulos Cancer and Wellness Centre, but we’ll also have lots of information on prevention and screening because people need to look after themselves,” centre nurse unit manager Linley Smith said.
She also emphasised that “after COVID, people weren’t visiting their GPs, so it’s all about looking for those early signs. If you’re concerned, go and see your GP. It might be nothing, but it also allays people’s fears if they’ve found a lump or something.”
Michael Reid from Michael Reid Coaching is another exhibitor.
“I offer lifestyle coaching, which helps people increase their energy, create their lifestyle freedom, and improve connection to relationships and what’s most important to them in their life,” Mr Reid said.
He will also be running a workshop at 9:30am titled ‘Prevent and Recover from Burnout’.
“I’ll be helping people understand the early warning signs of burnout, also five things they can implement to prevent or recover from burnout, and also how to understand and manage stress, because that’s where burnout starts,” he said.
For a day full of informative talks, interactive workshops and the chance to connect directly with local businesses, the Health and Wellbeing Event promises to be an enriching experience.
“I’m looking forward to the event. Come past and say g’day. I’d love to meet you, so introduce yourself, and we’ll see you there,” Mr Reid said.
Mrs Connick thanked the event’s major sponsor, myeden, and the event partner, McPherson Media Group.
The Health and Wellbeing Event will be held at Riverlinks Eastbank concurrently with the Ladies Who Lunch event on Sunday, October 29, from 9am to 4pm.
