Average response times in the fourth quarter of the 2021/22 year (April to June) were 20 minutes and 21 seconds.
Average response times in the fourth quarter of 2022/23 stood at 19 minutes and 16 seconds.
Roughly 50 to 60 per cent of Code One emergency call-outs were responded to within 15 minutes or less.
Code One call-outs are for patients who require urgent paramedic or hospital care.
Other local government areas with similar response times include Benalla Rural City and Campaspe shire.
Moira shire still needs to catch up to the more populated local government areas of Greater Shepparton and Wangarratta who have response times of roughly 70 to 80 per cent.
However, it also must be noted that Moira shire is double the size of Greater Shepparton with a far smaller population.
Moira shire population is roughly 30,000 while Greater Shepparton LGA population stands at 68,000.
Response times have improved not only from this time last year but also from the last quarter.
The average response times for the third quarter of the 2022-23 financial year show that 49.6 per cent of Code One emergencies in Moira shire were responded to in 15 minutes or less, with the average time for a Code One response being 19.23 minutes.
Strate Member for Ovens Valley Tim McCurdy has said more needs to be done when it comes to investments but nonetheless welcomed the improvement.
“Whilst the slight improvement in response times is a step in the right direction, only 50 per cent of Code One call-outs in the Moira shire are meeting the 15-minute target,” he said.
“This shows that the government needs to put more funding into ambulance services in our regions and help support the wonderful staff who are working as hard as they can to look after their patients. ”
