The soccer club is home to about 85 players — with ages ranging from five to 13 — and recently secured a grant from the Greater Shepparton Connected Communities Organisation in support from the Bendigo Bank, to upgrade its old and worn soccer jerseys.
St Brendan’s Soccer Club secretary Angela Collins was over the moon with the new uniforms which were presented to players at training at McEwen Reserve during the week.
‘‘It was awesome to see all the players excited and it’s just going to be fantastic for them to run out all in the same uniform and with their own numbers,’’ Collins said.
‘‘The jerseys that we had were old, I couldn’t tell you when but possibly 15 to 20 years, and some didn’t even match the rest, so it’s going to be great when we play on Saturday in the same uniform.
Collins said it it was not for Connected Communities and six loyal sponsors, the new uniforms would not have been made possible.
‘‘I really need to thank everyone who helped contribute and make this happen,’’ she said.
‘‘Huge thanks to Connected Communities and Bendigo Bank for the grant application process and to our sponsors Ozweld Group, Shepparton ARB, FIX muscle performance, Pentel-White King and Pelly and Sons Transport.’’
