The bull sale is at noon on Monday, February 24, and will be preceded by a mature cow dispersal sale at 4pm on Sunday, February 23.
The feature sire at this year’s bull sale is Tobruk Southern Cross S015, with 20 sons of Southern Cross on offer.
The Days Whiteface principals purchased Southern Cross for a record Hereford yearling price of $91,000.
They said his performance data was “incredible — he is trait leader for low birthweight and 200-, 400- and 600-day weight, which is very unique”.
He is also a trait leader for scrotal size and in the top one per cent of the breed for EMA.
New sire SHF Houston D287 H086 offers outcross genetics. Like Southern Cross, he is a trait leader for 200-, 400- and 600-day weight, scrotal size and in the top one per cent for EMA.
“Our bull offering averages comfortably in the top 10 per cent of the breed for Herefords, Australia’s new sustainability production and MSA production indexes,” the stud principals said.
“With growing cow numbers, it is exciting to be able to offer a large group of proven breeders. We are offering all females over three years of age PTIC to industry leading bulls, including Southern Cross.”
The full offering will be on display at an on-property field day on Monday, February 10. There will also be a small selection of sale bulls on display at Casterton saleyards on Wednesday, January 29.
