It comes after the Goulburn Valley Grammar School students put in strong showings in Year 12, achieving ATARs of 99.6 and 99.05 respectively.
The twins were in good company, with 96 per cent of Goulburn Valley Grammar School students applying for a tertiary place and 99 per cent of those receiving an offer.
Of those who received an offer, 81 per cent received either their first or second preference.
Ashima plans to follow her parents into healthcare after being accepted to study medicine at Monash University.
“COVID-19 restrictions and the shift to online learning meant Year 12 was different for everyone,” she said.
“But I always felt supported by the school and my teachers, and overall it was a really good experience.”
Both Ashima’s parents are doctors and she believes it was their commitment to serving the community and giving back that inspired her to study medicine.
“I want to become a general practitioner. I am passionate about helping people, and becoming a doctor gives me plenty of opportunity to do that,” she said.
“Studying medicine is a long road and there’s still a lot of uncertainty about how university will work with coronavirus restrictions.
“I believe if I put in my best every day, I will prepare myself for what I can’t predict. Starting strong and trying to maintain that as best I can have been rewarding in the past.
“I am a little bit nervous about it all but I’m hoping my work ethic gets me through like it did in Year 12.”
Ayush is eyeing a career in technology after being accepted to study at the University of Melbourne.
He will take on a bachelor of science and master of data science, with aspirations to work as a software developer or in software engineering.
Ayush said 2020 was a difficult school year and he found it hard to find motivation while doing remote learning.
“It was not what I expected. It was difficult to do well with remote learning but thanks to the school and my teachers we adapted and made it work.
“It was still a fun experience and I’m thankful for my teachers for always being there for us.”
Ayush said he was now looking forward to university and deciding what career path he wanted to take.
“I’ve always been interested in technology, so data science seemed like the right choice,” he said.
“My brother studied computer science and it seemed like an interesting degree that had plenty of career options.”
