Indiana was born at 8.20am, weighing 3.66kg and measuring 52cm in ‘height’.
Ms Daniels said the baby was doing well.
The new mother gave birth to her bundle of joy at the Benalla Health Midwifery ward, and Ms Daniels spoke highly of the treatment she received.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better experience,” she said.
“We felt supported and safe and cared for throughout our entire stay (three nights) there. We were very welcomed.”
That care extended beyond merely coming in to give birth.
“We attended the free antenatal class, which prepared us for birth and taking care of a newborn, (it was) run by Benalla Health Midwifery,” Ms Daniels said.
The pregnancy journey was arguably just as exciting as finally seeing Indiana.
“We found out the gender of the baby 12 weeks in. Would have been happy with either a boy or girl but are very excited to have a little girl,” Ms Daniels said.
For the couple, getting the home ready for baby was a novel experience but Ms Daniels said they were well supported.
“Getting our home ready, as it was our first experience having a child, we didn’t quite know what to do,” she said.
“But we were supported through the midwife team and our friends and family.
“We took a lot of pleasure preparing our furniture and imagining our new family using them.”
Asked whether they were getting enough sleep, Ms Daniels said it could be worse.
“Remarkably we are getting enough sleep but we are still learning the interesting hours from 2am until 5am,” she said.
Everyone at the Ensign congratulates both Ms Daniel and Mr Harrison on becoming new parents.
