Man shot dead at Sydney's Bondi Junction, streets shut

"A police operation is under way on Spring Street, Bondi Junction following reports of shots fired," NSW Police told AAP in a statement.

The Daily Telegraph is reporting a man was shot dead in his car at Bondi Junction, with police believing it is the latest in a spate of gangland killings in Sydney.

Road closures are in place and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.

The police operation is in place between Spring St (cnr Newland St) and Denison St, Waverley Council said.

A police helicopter is hovering over Bondi Junction and police have taped off the area.
