Woods 'rejects invitation' to captain US Ryder Cup team

Woods was looking for a reduced role to the captaincy but he and the PGA of America could not reach an agreement on what that would entail, according to the report.

Sports Illustrated reported that Keegan Bradley will be named the captain. The 38-year-old participated in the Ryder Cup in 2012 and 2014.

Other potential choices include previous captains Zach Johnson (2023), Steve Stricker (2021), Jim Furyk (2018) and Davis Love III (2016) as well as Fred Couples, Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson.

The biennial competition will take place from Sept. 26-28, 2025, at Bethpage Black on Long Island, New York. Luke Donald returns as the European captain after leading his team to victory in Rome in 2023.
