The aim of the morning was for everyone to hear the snap and crunch as students feasted on the selection of fresh and tasty vegetables on offer.
It was all part of the Big Vegie Cruch - an initiative of the Healthy Kids Association and offered to all NSW schools as a simultaneous activity.
Forming part of Vegetable Week, Mathoura Public School joined in with thousands of others at at 10am Thursday.
Research undertaken by the Healthy Kids Association shows that only five per cent of NSW children eat enough vegetables.
So the purpose of the event, according to Mathoura principal Janice Eddy, was to promote the importance of eating vegetables in a fun and healthy way“.
“Mathoura students enjoyed snacking on cauliflower, capsicum, cucumber, carrot, snowpeas and beans,” she said.
“Thank you to Forever Fresh Echuca for preparing and providing the vegetables, following a successful grant through the Healthy Kids Association.”
