Despite being postponed earlier in the term due to extreme heat, the event showcased some strong performances in the water and poolside.
To enhance the community feel and build a sense of house spirit, students dressed up in coloured costumes.
The Year 12 cohort dressed as The Wiggles, characters from Mario Cart and wore inflatable dragon suits to name a few.
There was plenty to do for those not so keen on swimming laps including mini pool volleyball, ping pong scramble and boat races.
True colours: Bianca Moore and Elise Clarke were not hiding their allegiance at the college’s house swim carnival.
To complement the college’s term one awareness and fundraising focus (Project Compassion), one of the alternative activities at the swimming carnival was a pedometer challenge.
Each house was allocated a number of pedometers with students accumulating steps for their house and raising awareness around the distance covered by some people in underdeveloped countries to gain access to basic things such as water.
Across the three houses — Brigidine, Augustine and Delany — more than 70,000 steps were tracked throughout the day with some individual staff and students gaining 1000 or more themselves.

As the temperature increased, so too did participation in swimming events. Relay teams were filled across all age groups and culminated with the annual staff versus students relay.
The male staff team had a strong win, while the female team may have just been edged out in a photo finish.
Augustine House held a solid lead throughout the day and were unable to be caught taking out the win followed by Delany, and Brigidine House coming in third.
