The popular Thompson’s Beach is no longer flooded, but the area remains off limits to the public.

Thompson’s Beach had been under water since flooding occured earlier this year.

The popular Beach Café located on the beach was affected by the floodwater, and despite the water receding, access to the popular venue is still not possible.

Barooga Sporties chief executive officer Bobby Brooks said they were unable to reach the cafe and that the venue wouldn’t be operational for the foreseeable future.

As for Thompson’s Beach itself, Moira Shire Council has responded to Cobram Courier inquiries with the following statement:

“Council are undertaking an initial risk assessment with a view to allow public access as soon as possible. In the meantime, Thompson’s Beach remains closed to ensure the safety of the community”
