Graeme Wall, a dedicated member, was honoured with a certificate recognising his exceptional commitment to Field and Game’s conservation objectives.
Rushworth Field and Game president Robbie Donovan was then presented with the media award for promoting the aims and efforts of Field and Game to members and the wider community.
The club was also presented with the hotly contested Blue Wing Award for volunteer conservation and habitat improvement.
The Grampians branch took out the Vermin award for their continued work removing various pests in their area, and David Cox from the Shepparton branch was presented with a certificate for his outstanding service to the aims of Field and Game.
Mr Cox is a regular helper at Rushworth when its members do any club activities, as well as working across northern Victoria.
Mr Donovan was overjoyed to say the least with the awards for such a small branch as Rushworth and praised its many members who have contributed in any way.
Conservation officer Graeme Wall would like to thank the Kyabram Free Press for printing the group’s conservation posts and the wider community for their support of members’ efforts.
“For a small club of 70 members against branches with hundreds and in some cases thousands, this is testament to the branch’s commitment to Field and Games values,” Mr Wall said.
He said without the support of members through fox shoots, the building repair at the public park and the extensive conservation work, these awards would not have been possible.
“Thanks must also go to community organisations and individuals who have helped over the last 12 months,” he said.
