Victorian Open

The Henselite Victorian Open is Bowls Victoria’s premier tournament and the second largest bowls event behind the Australian nationals. Shepparton will see bowlers from all across the state converge to compete. The week-long event ends on Friday, November 25.

Author talk — Fleur McDonald
Continuing its tradition of having renowned authors talk about their work, careers and lives, Shepparton Library will play host to Fleur McDonald. The bestselling author of Voice of the Outback is promoting her new novel, Broad River Station, which sees a young constable trying to locate a missing child while facing prejudices. The talk goes for an hour and runs between 6pm and 7pm.

Riverlinks and Raz Music present Grigoryan Brothers — A Boy Called Sailboat
A screening of the award-winning film A Boy Called Sailboat. The film’s soundtrack was recorded by acclaimed guitarists Slava and Leonard Grigoryan who will be playing the soundtrack live during the screening. The film depicts a family who have forged a simple but proud life in the drought-ridden Deep South. The screening will being at 7.30pm.

The Gypsy Princess and Other Dances
Goulburn Valley Academy of Ballet presents its annual dance concert, The Gypsy Princess and Other Dances, with entertainment suitable for the whole family. The ballet is set in period Spain and will include performances from all the academy’s dancers. Two shows will be played, on Saturday and Sunday respectively, starting at noon and ending at 5pm.
The Tatura Creative Artists are having an open studio and art sale on Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
The group members are excited to show off their creative talents.
Art works will be on sale, and it could be a great time to do some original Christmas shopping at reasonable prices.

Sunday, November 20
MOVE’s first birthday celebrations
Shepparton’s Museum of Vehicle Evolution is celebrating its first birthday in style and residents are invited to attend the bash between 10am and 4pm. Organisers have promised cars, motorbikes, trucks, historic buses, the Farren Bicycle Collection and the Loel Thomson Costume Collection, as well as special features for the occasion. Food will also be available.
