The centre farewelled principal Michele Ramage at the end of 2020, wishing her all the best for her retirement.
A FLC spokesperson said Ms Ramage had been a strong, caring and visionary leader since she opened the centre in 2015.
“Our staff and students celebrated her legacy . . . with a small retirement function and it was inspiring to listen to the speeches given by school representatives who showcased the impact she has had in education — particularly for our vulnerable cohort,” the spokesperson said.
“Michele started her teaching career in 1983 at Benalla High School, now Benalla P-12 College, and over the years demonstrated an unwavering commitment to public education in Benalla.
“In 2015, she was employed by Wodonga Senior Secondary College to open the Benalla Flexible Learning Centre, a re-engagement school for disengaged youth in the north-east region.
“Under her leadership, Benalla FLC has supported many young people to complete their secondary education, find employment and achieve their goals.
“The students were always a focus of her actions and she created a staffing team who are also passionate and student-focused.
“We wish Michele an enjoyable retirement and success in any future plans.”
